Think OUTSIDE the box by Neo101 Think OUTSIDE the box by Neo101
Something that most deviants either already do, or at least consider doing.

The only problem I have with this image in retrospect, is maybe the scanlines, but I really wanted to add something to the otherwise bland white background.

EDIT: Thanks to the constructive comments I've recieved on this piece up until now, I've changed the location and size of the text. I just can't bring myself to remove it completely, seeing as I really think there should be some connection to the title, if this were ever to be seen outside of DA.

Great way to go about redefining an old concept. Very creative, very original. From a completely technical point of view, I think that the box could use some work. It'd be perfect I think with some flaps and tape, and a slightly smoother surface, but that's just me being anal.

Keep the words I think though. If I were to go to an art gallery, I would see a title that would explain the piece a bit. On DA we have that same thing, but I think digital art benefits from an attached title worked into the design, and makes it an overall stronger piece. Especially how the words are placed now. When a person looks at this they see all the scans, they see the box, and only then do they see the copy. Creates a kind of climax each time you look at the image.

I'm completely speechless for recieving this comment, seeing as, even though I have recieved a few decent comments on my work, this one is superb!

For taking the time to comment and critique this piece so thouroughly(SP), I honestly thank you.

Thats some good thinking outside the box....

In my line of work, we like to think outside the box and beyond, its always the clients who fear to tread that path... :-)

Ooo...looks so much better without the words infront of the pic. The words just made it hard to really "see" the picture and idea. It looks great now!!! :)

Thank you!

In retrospect, I actually agree.
But seriously, I couldn't get myself to take the text off completely, so now at least it's under someone's taskbar

for real man, this is awesome. I love the scan lines for one...(to me) it kinda hints at it being viewed through a TV which totally fits the "think outside the box concept". Not to mention that the concept itself of the CAT scans of the brain is killer.
I guess the only thing I don't really like is the text in the image like that. No text at all or have it in the border of the image.
But the concept and composition is right on.

thank you all for the comments!

Ok, concerning the text, should I completely remove it, or just move it and make it smaller?
Keep in mind that this image won't always be seen with the intended titling above it...

I really like the concept, with the scans sitting outside the box; but I have to agree with ~bluerugbychick, the text has got to go.

Another wonderful concept and a great portfolio piece if I ever saw one.... What did you go to school for?
Everything has it's purpose even the scanlines and I like it when i see somone work a possible mistake into
part of thier design... show's they know how to adapt and better yet they break there own personal limits in
the process.

Damn another Fav... I never do this.

Well done!

Aside from the tankx I've expressed on the liquid work, thank you for this one as well!
It's rare to find really constructive comments from fellow deviants!

Thanks for the :+fav: here as well!

this is out there - nice idea and great execution - my only problem is with the text it interferes too much it would have been better bottom left - and i'm not sure about it being there at all - what da ya think that us dudes at da cant get the picture from the image? do ya think were stoopid? it says it all in the title - now lets see will this add to the popularity polls mmm too many real words I'll try harder next time

Yeah, it's in 3D, but I had to use some Photoshop for the Brain images and the shadows.

Thanks for the comments!
